I have heard that you need to take the car in three times. Is this true?
Not necessarily. Generally, where a manufacturer fails to repair a vehicle after a reasonable number of attempts (3 times) for the same problem or non-conformity, and the problem cannot be fixed, or the vehicle is out of service for a total of 30 days (not consecutive) for any non-conformity you may be entitled to compensation under the Lemon Law.
Should I take my car into the shop again?
You should take your car to the manufacturer authorized repair shop so long as a problem exists and the safety of the vehicle is at issue. Each case is different, and you should speak to a qualified Lemon Law attorney first, but it is best if you can demonstrate the problem with the car if you go forward with a case.
If the dealer refuses to repair you vehicle you also have a Lemon Law case.
What are your rights?
If your vehicle is covered under the Lemon Law, you may be entitled to Lemon Law relief, consisting of a new car, full refund, or partial monetary payment with continued use of your vehicle. You should speak to our Lemon Law experts to discuss your specific case.

Maintain all Records of Vehicle Repairs

A written copy provides you with strong evidence that you have had a consistent and specific problem, and also that you have provided the manufacturer with a reasonable opportunity to correct the problem. When building your PA or NJ lemon law case, the more written information detailing the history of your problem ... the better.
Organize your documentation
Have your vehicle’s warranty, your finance/lease agreement, any repair or service orders, any correspondence you have had with the manufacture or dealership regarding the issue, and any other document that may provide evidence to strengthen you lemon law case, neatly organized in chronological order.
Become familiar with Technical Service Bulletins (TSB)
for your vehicle
When a defect or repair for a certain model of automobile becomes known, the manufacture of the vehicle sends instructions to alert various dealerships with what is known as Technical Service Bulletins (TSB). Dealerships do not usually offer this information unless requested by an individual. Having your dealer representative document the fact that you have requested a TSB on your vehicle can add to your PA or NJ lemon law case. Ask your service technician about TSBs.
